Fumiko
Fumiko Bio
Fumiko is an electronic music duo one half Courtney Herrenberg one half Samhairel Sudhakar born in Sydney, Australia. They released their first single ‘PUPPET’ in January 2020. They released their second single ‘Love It When I’m Lonely’ in August of 2020 refining their sound and moving toward a darker, grunge and trip hop mood. In September 2021 they released their single “Sweet Toxic Love” produced by Sam and Cou and mixed by Justin Raisin. They also released their first music video with Sweet Toxic Love Directed by Ari Kwasner-Catsi.
The two produce their music together with Courtney on vocals and Sammy on bass guitar a combination of electronic and live elements. Their signature sound is a careful balance between the analogue and digital worlds, blending live percussion with electronic drums, bass, guitar, synths and sound affects to set the mood. Their production dances between moods and elements whilst Courtney’s dynamic vocals bounce from low soul to even deeper harmonies. Lyrically, her songs are poems and stories diving deep into her own mind reminiscing on heartbreak, destruction, growing, bad habits and good ones.
Bringing together their contrasting influences to share a sound that is distinctly their own.

LIFE WITHOUT ANDY
“Got us feeling emotions we didn’t even know we had.”
“Reaching deep within and tapping into something truly special, Sydney based musician Courtney Herrenberg AKA (Fumiko) has come through with stunningly raw track ‘Puppet’, produced by Sammy Sudhakar. The first single from her upcoming debut album Velvet Nights, the track is a beautiful canvas of 90’s R&B splashed with electronic exploration. Not to mention enough soul to rival that of Erykah Badu herself. As she battles between knowing she deserves better and giving into toxicity, Fumiko glows with a beautifully raw vulnerability, as she gives us a glimpse into her inner struggle.”
